Ryans Dad and Brother Brandon have gone camping for 5 days ,so its just the two of us. We went shopping on Friday, Scouts party on Saturday, Shopping and Botanical gardens on Sunday and then came home and made Christmas bonbons, Royal Childrens on Monday and then off to the zoo and Tuesday a quiet day waiting for the boys to come home maybe make a banana cake or muffins. Its been tiring ,but lovely to embrace our "special" time.

Wow when will it stop.......
Ryans cast is off and his leg is healing nicely, had clinic at Royal childrens last Wednesday and all specialists were happy with him, Monique-his neurologist offered up some ideas regarding bone density and how to strengthen it, Mandy his respiratory specialist gave him antibiotics for cold and Michael his heart specialist increased his heart meds. Height and weight both increasing on a healthy range for him too.
Wednesday night John and I had our first "date night" together in weeks (hes been working) and thankfully after we'd had our dinner and were at Rick- Johns twin brothers, Our carer rang and said Ryan was gasping for breath - so we left ball in her court as to whether to ring ambos. Ten minutes later he was getting worse so she rang me back,(we were already on our way home) and said she thought we should ring ambos,They had just arrived when John and I got home and were triaging him. After a quick assessment they decided to take him to Frankston hospital, where he was Xrayed and found to have a chest infection. He was also found to have a heart rate of 180, so they transferred him to paediatric ward and inserted an IV to decrease his heart rate. Hes been sleeping poorly since he has started antibiotics,on his second dose now and cough is slowly subsiding.
..........And now my coffee machine has broken!!!!!

Ryans broken leg!!!!!
Well......Happy Fathers day to John , the best Dad a kid could ask for-Ryans cup to John said "protector, Mentor, Hero....." well his Dad is all those things to him and more.
Its been an interesting couple of days-Ryan fell (well his legs collapsed under him) off his bed yesterday morning fracturing his right femur just above the knee. So by 8 am yesterday morning we were at Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department, who were brilliant in their speed, efficiency and care. We were seen by a doctor within 10 minutes, Xrayed within another 15 and then put into a bed within another 30 minutes. Ryan was plastered from his thigh to toes and physios came to assess how we would get him in and out of wheelchair. After coming home we watched a couple of good movies and Ryan quietly went to bed with John at about 9pm - not much sleep had by either of them I might add. This morning Brandon came in for cuddles with Mum in Ryans bed and kept checking if Dad was awake cos its Fathers day. Finally at 730 John arose from restless slumber and Brandon raced in with all his presents and Mum trailed with coffee for bleary eyed parents. Dad was wrapped with his "Dr Who Time Lord" dressing gown, chamois, belt holder, mug, coke can holder and tape measure followed by breaky in bed.
We then made another trek this morning to Dandenong ED as Ryan had broken his cast during the night and needed reassessment of his pain meds.....Nurofen plus just not cutting it, we were seen, replastered and given endone to help him get through the nights.

Hello....back after a long hiatus
One of Ryans mates at school is in a special needs scout group and Ryan is very interested in joining, as its all stuff he loves like camping, bowling, and generally having fun. I'm keen for him to join as he needs another interest other than his ipad! I haven't blogged for a long time and had forgotten how to do it (Thanks Amanda for reminding me). A lot has changed in 12 months Ryans arms are a lot weaker, he can only hold a plastic cup half full of liquid and straws are our best friend now. John has been doing a lot of shift work as a Patient Transport Officer, so I've bitten the bullet and now have council girls in 3 times a week to shower Ryan and put him into bed, so I can spend quality time with Brandon reading and doing homework (he has a lot of homework this year). It was a hard decision to allow someone else to do a role that I think of as a Mums job, but I am enjoying spending time cooking dinner and helping Brando. Ryan discovered I blog thanks to "youtube" and was shocked that he has a Mum "cool enough" to blog lol. As he is getting older, he is growing cheekier and cheekier and I must admit there are a lot of amusing moments like when he calls me "Woman!!" as in "what are you doing woman?". All of his aides and teachers know him at school for his cheekiness and I love that - much better than being that whingy kid. The following picture is Ryan with Liberal Mp Louise Bauer presenting him with his citizenship award last December for his role modelling and being a great corporate citizen, he was choosen from all local schools not just "special needs schools" so needless to say very proud Mum, Dad and brother.
